Where To Start ?? Buyer Beware ??

"We fell in love with Florida whilst on holiday"

This is one of the most commonly used sentences we hear when meeting prospective buyers. "Of course you did.....what's not to love?" would be my reply. The reality is of course that spending a couple of care-free weeks on holiday is nothing like the actual commitment of property ownership in the 'Sunshine State' of Florida.

Now, I'm not suggesting that you'll immediately fall in love with the small studio dwelling on the edge of a picturesque national park known as the Everglades - such as the one shown in the photo above (Hey!...its a fixer-upper ! what do you expect ?) - but many buyers have their judgement impaired by 'holiday fever' and that can cause the worst scenario with make-or-break consequences. So, what to do? Well, to start with, don't book another 'Holiday' to view property. To view property properly takes time. Florida is pretty vast and trying to make important decisions on areas, home styles and finances, particularly whilst the kids or the rest of the family are nagging at you that they're missing out on pool time, theme parks and Tiki Bars.... well it just won't help at all ! You are more likely to make a mistake or buy a lemon if you're under pressure. There are so many options out there its likely the perfect place is waiting just for you and if its meant to be then it will happen at your pace.

Take your time and take Advice
